State Grid "Lights Up" the First Lesson of the Semester in Huai'an, Promoting Safe Electricity Use

HUAI'AN, Jiangsu — Recently, State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Co., Ltd., together with State Grid Huai'an Power Supply Company, visited Xin’an Primary School in Huai’an to hold a themed event for the "First Lesson of the Semester"—the Power Care Classroom. Through engaging popular science activities and interactive experiments, the event delivered a lively lesson on electricity to the students.

This event is an important initiative for State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power to fulfill its social responsibility and deliver the "warmth of electricity." In the classroom, volunteers eschewed dry theoretical lectures, instead using fun interactive experiments—such as hand-cranked and solar power generation—as starting points. This allowed students to intuitively understand how electricity is generated and opened the door for them to explore the world of electricity.

In addition, using world-class energy projects such as the Three Gorges Dam and the Yarlung Zangbo River hydropower projects as examples, the volunteers explained the remarkable achievements of China’s power industry in simple terms. This helped the children truly realize the close connection between power supply and daily life.

Safe electricity education was a key focus of the lesson. Taking into account the cognitive characteristics of primary school students, volunteers outlined various dangerous scenarios that could lead to electric shocks in daily life. They elaborated on basic electrical safety knowledge and taught the children essential methods to prevent electric shocks, allowing the concept of safe electricity use to take root in their minds.

State Grid Huai'an Power Supply Company has organized the "Power Care Classroom" themed events for a total of three years, benefiting 1,200 students. Going forward, the company will continue to carry out diverse volunteer activities to popularize electrical science, comprehensively promoting knowledge about power facilities and safe electricity use.
