Nanyang, Henan: Special Flood-Control Emergency Drill Held

On May 10, State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company coordinated its substation, distribution, and transmission teams to carry out a special flood-control emergency drill in an orderly manner. The drill aimed to effectively enhance emergency response capabilities in the face of flooding and waterlogging, and to fully ensure the safe and stable operation of the power grid during the flood season.
During the drill, all specialized teams set up simulated scenarios based on their actual job responsibilities, comprehensively testing the operability of flood-control plans and the real-world response capabilities of emergency teams. In response to simulated severe waterlogging in the operational area of a substation, personnel from the substation team strictly followed the emergency plan, quickly completing operations such as placing flood-control sandbags, pumping and draining accumulated water, inspecting equipment, and conducting operational monitoring. These efforts efficiently addressed waterlogging hazards and safeguarded equipment inside the substation.
In response to a simulated floodwater intrusion risk at an underground switching station, personnel from the distribution team quickly arrived on site to carry out drainage work. They also conducted electrical isolation and equipment dehumidification checks, further strengthening the flood prevention, waterlogging response, and fault-handling capabilities of underground enclosed distribution facilities.
Focusing on the risk of tower tilting caused by flooding near rivers, patrol personnel from the transmission team adopted a “UAV aerial inspection + ground verification” approach to accurately assess the risks. Emergency repair personnel promptly built temporary protective retaining walls around tower foundations and installed temporary guy wires for towers, effectively enhancing the emergency repair capabilities of transmission lines during flood disasters.
Throughout the drill, all participants responded quickly, operated in a standardized manner, and maintained smooth coordination across all stages, fully demonstrating the professional competence and collaborative response capabilities of State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company’s emergency team.
Going forward, State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company will carry out regular inspections and rectification of flood-control hazards, optimize emergency response procedures, and strengthen the power grid’s flood-control safety barrier, providing reliable power support for local economic and social development as well as local residents’ work and daily lives.
