Recently, Linghu Park in Hengyang, Hunan, was lush with greenery as a gentle breeze blew through. The Zhuhui District Elite Competition of the 11th “10,000 Steps Challenge” Walking Incentive Competition kicked off here, marking the start of a 100-day science-based walking campaign.
The competition will run until August 18 and features two main categories: the walking competition and the healthy weight competition. A total of 335 participants will wear dedicated pedometers to meet daily walking goals and regularly monitor changes in their body weight. Throughout the event, the Zhuhui District Center for Disease Control and Prevention will provide full-process health monitoring and medical emergency support. The district will also provide targeted guidance through health lectures and weight management programs to help turn short-term “check-ins” into long-term healthy habits.
This year marks a pivotal year for Zhuhui District as it strives to establish itself as a National Demonstration Area for Comprehensive Chronic Disease Prevention and Control. As a key component of the district’s health promotion efforts, the “10,000 Steps Challenge” initiative will actively explore new models for chronic disease prevention and control through science-based exercise interventions and health management, injecting new momentum into “Healthy Zhuhui” development.
