Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture in Guizhou Celebrates 70th Anniversary of Establishment

On July 23, the Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture in Guizhou Province held a celebration ceremony to mark the 70th anniversary of its establishment. Through a brief and solemn ceremony, the event reviewed the region’s journey from poverty and underdevelopment to prosperity and revitalization, vividly showcasing the vigorous vitality of development in ethnic minority regions.

Following the ceremony, the large-scale cultural performance Splendid Qiandongnan was staged. Centered on the 70-year development timeline, the performance brought together performers from four generations — the elderly, middle-aged people, young adults and children. It integrated intangible cultural heritage elements, including Miao ethnic flying songs, Dong ethnic grand songs and traditional ethnic dances, with modern stage lighting and visual technologies, artistically presenting Qiandongnan’s remarkable journey from a challenging beginning to prosperous development.
