On October 24, the 2026 World Young Scientist Summit (WYSS) opened in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province. Co-hosted by the China Association for Science and Technology, the People's Government of Zhejiang Province, and the World Association of Young Scientists (WAYS), the summit attracted nearly 800 representatives—including scientists, educators, and entrepreneurs—from over 60 countries and regions. Throughout the event, power supply personnel from the State Grid Wenzhou Power Supply Company remained on duty, ensuring a high-standard, error-free power supply that facilitated the smooth proceedings of the summit and successfully fulfilled their power assurance mission.

Centered on the theme "Converging the World's Talents, Creating a Better Future", the summit focused on three core areas: cutting-edge technological development, the cultivation of young talent, and the integration of scientific innovation with industrial development. The event featured 12 specialized parallel forums, alongside a range of unique activities such as exhibitions of future technologies and products, dedicated international and domestic exchange sessions, and site visits to scientific and technological facilities—making it a global innovation gathering characterized by its high level, broad scope, and dynamic energy.
Given the summit's large scale, numerous sessions, extensive venue coverage, and stringent power supply requirements, the State Grid Wenzhou Power Supply Company took a proactive approach. By precisely aligning with the operational needs of each venue and analyzing the overall scale, layout, and power load characteristics, the company developed a customized, comprehensive power assurance plan.
In the lead-up to the summit, the State Grid Wenzhou Power Supply Company deployed professional teams to conduct exhaustive and comprehensive inspections of all internal and external power lines, substations, distribution equipment, switching stations, and critical power infrastructure, systematically eliminating any potential hazards. Simultaneously, the company completed thorough checks and testing of emergency power supply vehicles and repair materials, while coordinating with venue operators to conduct emergency drills. These efforts solidified the foundation for power safety, ensuring an absolutely reliable power supply throughout the summit.

During the power supply assurance period for the summit, State Grid Wenzhou Power Supply Company implemented a three-tiered power supply guarantee system—combining on-site backup power sources, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), and emergency power generation vehicles. A multi-dimensional approach, integrating fixed-post stationing with mobile, specialized inspections, was adopted; 46 personnel were deployed to core venues and critical power supply points within the Garden Expo in Wenzhou to maintain a continuous presence and conduct regular patrols. Leveraging an intelligent power monitoring platform, the company monitored the load and equipment status at the main venue in real time, enabling precise anticipation of potential power risks and rapid response to any anomalies. Furthermore, operations and maintenance staff utilized infrared thermal imagers and remote intelligent inspection platforms to monitor and analyze the thermal conditions of primary and secondary equipment at substations supporting the event, ensuring the reliable operation of all infrastructure throughout the summit.

Moving forward, State Grid Wenzhou Power Supply Company will strictly enforce duty and emergency repair responsibilities. Emergency response teams and equipment will remain on full standby, with communication channels kept clear to ensure the efficient execution of all power assurance measures. Through reliable power supply, high-quality service, and a steadfast commitment to its mission, the company aims to successfully fulfill its power assurance duties, providing a robust energy foundation for the 2026 WYSS.
