State Grid Zhangye Power Supply Company: Eliminating Overhead Hazards to Safeguard Highway Travel

On October 26, the major overhaul and retrofitting project for the 330 kV Zhanghua Traction Line I was successfully completed. The project replaced two suspension towers (Nos. 017 and 020) spanning the S18 Primary Highway with tension towers to create an independent tension section. This eliminated critical safety risks posed by high-voltage transmission lines crossing the highway at the source, providing a strong safety barrier for passing vehicles and pedestrians.

As a vital regional transportation artery, the S18 Primary Highway experiences heavy traffic. Faced with a tight four-day construction window, the project team optimized grid operating arrangements to minimize outage impacts. As a result, daily life, commercial operations, and agricultural production along the route remained virtually undisturbed—ensuring both improved road safety and reliable power supply for the community.
