Early at 7:30 a.m. at the Suwu Hong Kong-Bound Vegetable Base in Minqin County, utility workers in blue overalls moved briskly across vibrant green fields. Irrigation systems spun through the mist as refrigerated trucks lined up outside cold-storage facilities. While field hands harvested and packed produce bound for the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), staff from State Grid Wuwei Power Supply Company were on hand to keep systems running smoothly. This bustling operation relies on the quiet, dependable performance of local transformers and grid infrastructure. Hemmed in by desert on three sides, Minqin contends with fierce winds, relentless sand, and scarce water resources. To the local community, stable electricity means everything: reliable power keeps pumps running, ensures abundant harvests, and brightens everyday life.

Designated as one of the third batch of "Vegetable Basket" production bases for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and a core area of the national demonstration program for agricultural industry development in towns, the base capitalizes on Minqin's unique cold-arid climate—blessed with ample sunshine and dramatic day-and-night temperature swings—from spring sowing all the way through the autumn harvest. To keep operations running smoothly, staff from State Grid Wuwei Power Supply Company conduct routine on-site inspections of irrigation pumps, greenhouse curtain motors, and fertigation systems, nipping electrical hazards in the bud. They also train cold-storage operators on electrical safety and help the farm calculate its electricity costs and develop energy-use plans, driving higher yields with greater energy efficiency. Grateful growers have come to know them as their trusted "power stewards"—meticulous in every detail and always there when needed.

Backed by standardized cultivation, well-developed cold-chain facilities, and dependable electricity, these Gobi-grown vegetables now journey seamlessly from the desert sands to premium dining tables across the Greater Bay Area.

Desert sands, premium harvest. Across the entire growing season—from spring sowing all the way through the autumn harvest—fresh Gobi produce travels thousands of miles to distant markets. Through dependable power services, State Grid Wuwei Power Supply Company secures strong yields, enhances the reputation of Minqin’s Hong Kong-bound vegetables, and helps cold-arid agricultural treasures reach dinner tables nationwide.
