Nanyang, Henan: Accelerating Distribution Network Optimization to Improve Power Supply Reliability

Recently, the 10 kV supporting transmission line project for the 110 kV Beijing Substation, implemented by State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company, was successfully energized, laying a solid grid foundation for safe and reliable power supply across its service area this winter.

Since the beginning of 2026, State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company has been improving power supply reliability through grid upgrades, driving the distribution network to transition from basic power supply coverage to more stable and higher-quality power supply. In light of regional load growth trends and weak links in the power grid, the company organized personnel to conduct a comprehensive diagnosis of lines within its jurisdiction. It systematically identified issues such as heavy overloading, low voltage and a low level of network interconnection, established a grid improvement project database, and advanced projects on a rolling basis by year and by region. It has also strengthened communication and coordination with local governments and enterprises in industrial parks to grasp electricity demand in advance, ensuring that projects are well planned and effectively delivered.

In response to the limited interconnection options and insufficient power transfer capacity on some lines, the company has gradually built a "hand-in-hand" power supply pattern by installing new ring main units, upgrading existing ones and adding tie switches, striving to enhance transfer and mutual support capability. During project implementation, Dengzhou Power Supply Company, a subsidiary of State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company, optimized grid operating arrangements in advance and actively promoted live-line work and power transfer measures to minimize the impact of outages on users. It has also strictly enforced construction plan reviews, on-site surveys and risk control, and put in place systems such as pre-shift meetings and safety briefings, ensuring that every process step is standardized and orderly, thereby ensuring both project progress and power supply quality.

Going forward, State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company will continue to speed up the pace of grid optimization, strengthen weak links in the distribution network, and further improve power supply reliability and the level of intelligence in the distribution network, providing stronger and more reliable electricity support for local economic and social development and people's daily lives and production activities.
