On October 28, the media delegation for the ‘Land-Sea Corridor Connecting the World · River-Sea Synergy Opening New Prospects — 2026 New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor Guangxi Tour’ themed event visited Berth 401 in Fangchenggang’s Yuwan Port Area to learn about the operations and construction progress of this key infrastructure project under the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.

Berth 401 in Fangchenggang’s Yuwan Port Area is a key logistics hub that supports the development of the Beibu Gulf hub port, serves the southwestern hinterland and facilitates connectivity with ASEAN markets. The project features one specialized bulk cargo berth designed for vessels of 200,000 deadweight tonnes (DWT), with a designed annual throughput capacity of 6.7 million tonnes. It primarily handles the unloading, storage and onward transportation of bulk commodities including coal, iron ore and bauxite. At present, Phase I of Berth 401 has been completed and put into operation, while Phase II has entered the final acceptance phase.

According to project briefings, the Phase II storage yard of Berth 401 sits in immediate proximity to the river-sea intermodal terminal. Upon full commissioning, the facility will enable a highly efficient water-to-water transshipment model in which large ocean-going vessels unload cargo that is then distributed via smaller inland vessels. This will complete the river-sea-rail multimodal transport chain, significantly shorten the transshipment time for bulk commodities and further consolidate Fangchenggang’s position as a key bulk cargo distribution hub for southwestern China.

In advancing the development of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, Berth 401 continues to fulfill its pivotal supporting role. In July 2026, the inauguration ceremony for the Africa–Fangchenggang–Xinjiang international sea-rail intermodal logistics corridor was held at Berth 401. This is currently China’s longest international sea-rail intermodal logistics corridor by total distance. The corridor enables two-way connectivity and north-south linkages between the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor and the Silk Road Economic Belt, further enhancing Fangchenggang’s advantages as a hub for cross-border, maritime and inland transport. It also extends the port’s reach in both domestic and international trade, providing solid infrastructure support for the high-quality development of cross-border logistics along the corridor.
