The "Youth on the Silk Road” short video contest organized by CRI Online of China Media Group has lasted for four months and received about 160 entries, with young people from Canada, Pakistan, Egypt participating.

Zang He, a graduate student from the Communication University of China, attended the contest with her video "Heart to Heart, Together for Future", which focuses on her Egyptian colleague Yilin during her internship in CSCEC Egypt. The video tells the story of Yilin, a young employee of CSCEC Egypt, who contributed to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and the promotion of cultural exchanges between China and Egypt.

Zang He said in an interview with CRI Online that she hopes that her video "can reflect the dedication and responsibility of the Generation Z overseas, show the mutual trust between Chinese and Egyptian youth and deliver love and strength through a story of friendship".

The main character of the video, Yilin, likes Chinese culture. In her daily life, Yilin records "Learning Chinese" videos, holds lectures on Chinese traditional culture, participates in folk activities of Chinese traditional festivals, and introduces Chinese traditional culture to local Egyptians in various ways.

Yilin said that she started to record the "Learning Chinese" videos because of her work arrangement, but later she found it very meaningful, "because, through these videos, more Egyptians got interested in the Chinese language, and wanted to learn more about Chinese culture. These videos could benefit daily communication, boost economic and cultural exchanges and deepen the friendship between the Chinese and Egyptians".

As Generation Z on the Silk Road, Zang He and Yilin used a video to record their story and share their moving moments. They hope that the video can inspire new thoughts and cultures. And through extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, young people can achieve common development and work together for a shared future.

The submission deadline of the "Youth on the Silk Road" short video contest is August 31, 2022. Welcome to send your videos via youthsr@cri.cn.
