A symposium for the World Internet Conference (WIC) member representatives was held during the World Internet Conference Nishan Dialogue on Digital Civilization (hereinafter referred to as the "Nishan Dialogue") in Nishan, China on June 25, with the theme of "Confidence and Recovery: Challenges and Opportunities of Digital Cooperation". Ren Xianliang, Secretary General of WIC, presided over the symposium and delivered a speech.

The Nishan Dialogue is the first thematic event, except for Wuzhen Summit, to be held by WIC as an international organization, said Ren Xianliang, Secretary General of WIC. Ren also stressed that WIC would adhere to the principles of jointly building a community with a shared future in cyberspace, and deepening exchanges and cooperation for common development and revitalization, in a bid to provide new momentum for the social and economic development of the world.

Around 40 member representatives of international organizations, world-leading internet companies and industrial institutions, attended the symposium. Among them, representatives of 12 members, including the Global System for Mobile Communications Association Ltd., Alibaba Group, IBM, etc., exchanged views on topics such as the digital economy, technological innovation and global cooperation. They said that through digital cooperation and technological innovation, numerous opportunities could be created for the development of the world economy. The representatives also urged actions to bridge the digital divide, establish and improve an international digital cooperation mechanism, and enhance regulations on moral principles, so as to promote a normative development of the digital economy. At last, they unanimously agreed to work with all parties around the world to address challenges, seize opportunities, and create a sound ecosystem for innovation in a bid to jointly promote sustainable development goals.
