Recently, a medical emergency response drill was held at the Tonglu competition venue for the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou.

This drill, in combination with the cross-country equestrian competition, simulated a real-life emergency. In the hurdles race, an athlete was injured in a fall from the horse. The frightened horse rushed into the staff area near the warm-up field, causing three staff members injured. Three groups of medical personnel were required to respond swiftly and provide necessary treatment to the athlete and three injured staff members.

On the scene, one staff member suffered a serious injury - a fracture of his left calf, which required immediate transfer via ambulance to the Tonglu First People's Hospital. Meanwhile, the other two with minor injuries were transferred to the infirmary for further medical attention. Given that the athlete suffering head trauma and cervical spine injury was in critical condition, first responders performed first aid, immediately notified the medical supervisor, and asked doctors of the Second Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine for a 5G + AR remote consultation.
