State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company Supports the High-Quality Development of Xixia Traditional Chinese Medicine Industry

Recently, in Linshuo Traditional Chinese Medicine Specialized Cooperative located in Yangtian Village, Miping Town, Xixia County, Nanyang City, Henan Province, China, workers were busy peeling and pitting Asiatic Cornelian Cherry Fruits (Shanzhuyu) stored in the cold storage, sorting and air-drying them. Staff from the State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company visited the site, consulted with Qiao Siqing, the person in charge of the cold storage, about their electricity needs and sought their opinions and suggestions on power supply services. They also conducted an inspection of the electrical equipment.

"We have invested over 20 million yuan in building an integrated cold storage facility for collection, storage and transportation, which has extended the medicinal industry chain and formed a modern industrial development model that integrates planting, processing, transportation, refrigeration and sales," said Qiao Siqing.

To meet the electricity needs of the cold storage, the State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company organized and implemented a renovation project of supporting power facilities, performed new construction and renovation of the 10 kV lines, regularly organized staff to conduct inspections on-site, promptly eliminated potential electrical hazards, and guided users to use electricity safely and in compliance with standards.

In recent years, Xixia County has cultivated over 300,000 mu (49420.974 acres) of more than 20 types of traditional Chinese medicinal herbs, including Asiatic Cornelian Cherry, Forsythia, and Turmeric, with an annual output of 60,000 tons and a production value of nearly 500 million yuan. To better serve the traditional Chinese medicine industry, the State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company has upgraded and transformed potential heavy-load transformers and lines to ensure the electricity needs for the harvesting of medicinal herbs, helping farmers and pharmaceutical companies embark on new paths to prosperity.
