At 0:00 on January 1, 2026, when the glittering figures of "2026" lit up the night sky, lights poured down like a galaxy. Beneath the century-old Jianghan Custom House, and amid the synchronized countdown of "3, 2, 1" by countless citizens and tourists, the New Year's bell tolled solemnly. The "2026 Dazzling Yangtze · Wuhan New Year Light Show" was staged spectacularly across popular urban areas such as the "Two Rivers and Four Banks" and Optics Valley Square. Behind the scenes, over a thousand members of the "Electric Zhiyin" power supply service team from State Grid Wuhan Power Supply Company stood guard to ensure reliable electricity supply.
At the main venue near the Jianghan Custom House on Hankou's Yanjiang Avenue, nearly 200 staff members from State Grid Wuhan Power Supply Company were stationed at key points along Yanjiang Avenue, Jianghan Road, and other locations, conducting thorough inspections of power supply equipment and lines. "We have deployed a total of 4 emergency power generation vehicles, 2 generators, 3 sets of UPS power supplies, 2 mobile lighting vehicles and 28 high-mast lights at the Jianghan Custom House, Hankou River Beach, and Jianghan Road Pedestrian Street to fully guarantee reliable power supply for the building light shows on New Year's Eve," said Cheng Zekai, a power assurance staff member from the Jiang'an Power Supply Center of State Grid Wuhan Power Supply Company.
Prior to New Year's Eve, State Grid Wuhan Power Supply Company formulated dedicated power assurance plans for 13 light show locations and crowd-gathering areas, covering 13 key assurance points, 22 distribution lines and 11 substations, ensuring that all power assurance measures were fully and effectively implemented.
For this New Year's Eve power assurance mission, State Grid Wuhan Power Supply Company mobilized more than 1,200 personnel deployments, 712 vehicle dispatches and 11 emergency power generation vehicles (units). Operating at "full capacity," they safeguarded the entire event, lighting up the "first light" as Wuhan stepped into 2026.
