At 7:30 a.m. on April 12, the 2026 Huai'an Xiyou World of Adventure Huai'an Marathon and Grand Canal Marathon Series (Huai'an Station) fired its starting gun. The event attracted runners from 31 countries and regions, with 15,000 participants gathering on Xiangyu Avenue to compete along the millennium-old canal.
The 2026 Huai'an Marathon kicks off
The event features two main categories: a full marathon and a half marathon, with 8,000 and 7,000 runners respectively. The route connects the Liyun Canal Scenic Belt, Qingjiangpu Tower, canal cultural landmarks, and urban ecological corridors, finishing at the Huai'an Sports Center. While competing, runners can experience the city's profound historical heritage and vibrant modern vitality.
The top three finishers in the men's division
The organizing committee made ample preparations for safety and security. Along the route, 28 medical stations and 23 ambulances (including one ECMO ambulance) were set up, supported by mobile AED patrol personnel and medical runners. Six designated hospitals opened fast-track channels for emergencies. Additionally, runners can take city buses and trams for free, and enjoy complimentary access to 37 A-level tourist attractions across the city using their race bibs after finishing.
