State Grid Drives Green Transition in Tongcheng with Rural EV Chargers and Dual Power Supplies

In recent years, the State Grid Tongcheng County Power Supply Company has been exploring a path for the green transition of this mountainous county by focusing on improving livelihoods and industrial development through two initiatives: bringing "EV chargers to villages" and providing "dual power supplies to factories."

In the area of public livelihoods, the company has collaborated with the Tongcheng County Development and Reform Bureau and the County Urban Development Group to promote the extension of charging facilities into rural areas. To date, 149 public EV chargers have been installed across the county, covering 11 townships and 56 administrative villages (communities). In 2025, an additional 47 charging stations were built in 47 administrative villages, equipped with 102 60 kW DC charging connectors, covering approximately one-quarter of the county's administrative villages (communities). All stations have been integrated into the State Grid Hubei Operation Platform, allowing users to locate chargers, scan codes to charge, make payments, and report faults via their mobile phones, effectively alleviating the range anxiety of new energy vehicle owners.
Regarding industrial power use, for example, the 3D laser engraving robot production line at Hubei Zhongtian Mica Products Co., Ltd. has extremely high requirements for voltage stability. The power supply company designed a dual-circuit power supply plan for the enterprise, equipped it with a dedicated distribution box and a temperature control system, and conducts monthly on-site inspections to ensure the 24-hour uninterrupted operation of the production line.

In addition, the company has innovatively implemented the "city socket" power supply model by constructing the 110 kV Fanpai Substation and its supporting lines in the Shinan High-tech Industrial Demonstration Park in advance to provide an independent and reliable power source for enterprises. This model has reduced the average power connection time for enterprises by 20 days and saved them a cumulative cost of over 3.8 million yuan. To date, ten high-quality enterprises have set up operations in the park, injecting green momentum into local industrial development.
