Recently, Gansu Wuwei Tumor Hospital held a media briefing at its Heavy Ion Center to showcase new clinical technologies across various medical fields. As the birthplace of domestic heavy-ion technology in China, the hospital has established a dual-center collaborative model between its Wuwei and Lanzhou facilities. This strategic layout has not only strengthened its leadership in cutting-edge heavy-ion therapy but has also driven collaborative innovation across surgery, internal medicine, and nuclear medicine.

In the field of heavy-ion therapy, the hospital has introduced nine advanced techniques—including respiration-controlled precision therapy and bladder cancer treatment with bladder volume control—offering new hope to patients with complex conditions. This advanced radiotherapy now works in tandem with surgical and medical interventions to create a comprehensive, multi-tiered cancer treatment system.

Following the briefing, Nie Peng, Vice President of Gansu Wuwei Tumor Hospital, joined a panel of experts to analyze recent clinical breakthroughs. The panel included Yang Qianzi (Director of Bone and Soft Tissue Surgery), Xing Wenjun (Director of the Second Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery), Gao Shengyun (Deputy Director of Cardiology), and Wang Daohe (Director of the Neuroscience Center).

Yang Qianzi highlighted the hospital's use of anterior vertebroplasty, which provides full coverage of the lesion and vertebral body, allowing patients to maintain a good quality of life without pain. Wang Daohe noted that optical coherence tomography (OCT) utilizes micron-resolution imaging to provide clearer imaging of vascular plaques. The experts also shared detailed insights into the clinical management of typical cases and the value of broader clinical application of these technologies.
