State Grid Huai’an Power Supply Company: Upgrading the Distribution Network Through Live-Line Work to Enhance Power Supply Reliability

Recently, Huai'an, Jiangsu Province, has experienced sustained high temperatures. As residential and commercial air conditioning loads have been fully released, pressure on the distribution network has continued to rise.

Baoyinghu Farm is an organic rice base certified by both domestic and EU authorities. This year, it has planted over 3,500 mu of organic rice, supported by two sets of 300-ton grain drying equipment. From seedling cultivation, transplanting and field management to harvesting and processing, the entire operation is electrified. The rice produced through this "green + ecological + technological" approach is highly favored in the market, but it also places extremely high demands on power supply reliability.

In response, State Grid Huai'an Power Supply Company has continuously dispatched live-line workers in recent days to upgrade the distribution network around key water sources and farmlands, including Baoyinghu. These upgrades are carried out without interrupting power supply or affecting users, thereby enhancing the reliability of distribution networks and ensuring reliable electricity for township enterprises and villagers' production and daily life.

At a live-line work site on the 10 kV Tangbao Line, workers wearing heavy insulating suits skillfully performed operations on the pole, installing a smart pole-mounted switch with "three-remote" functions (remote signaling, measurement and control) for the third branch of Baoyinghu Farm.

This initiative not only makes the line's operating status "visible" and fault handling "fast and accurate," but also significantly boosts the self-healing capability and power supply resilience of the farm's medium-voltage grid. Furthermore, the entire operation was completed without power interruptions or disturbance to residents, adding an extra "safety lock" for the farm during the summer peak period.
