Chongqing, Changshou: Reliable Power Supports Pomelo Orchards

In the height of summer, the core pomelo-growing area along the Longxi River in Changshou District, Chongqing, has entered a critical period for drought resistance and fruit protection. With a simple press of the remote control, the pumping station roars to life instantly, channeling clear river water through a pipeline network to precisely reach the roots of each pomelo tree.

Shihui Village in Changshou Lake Town is home to over 900 pomelo-growing households, most of which have purchased new irrigation equipment. To improve the efficiency of these smart devices and enhance the power supply quality for orchard irrigation, in the first half of 2026, the Dan Du Power Supply Station of State Grid Chongqing Changshou Power Supply Company carried out a dedicated renovation project in the pomelo-growing area of Shihui Village. This included the addition and capacity expansion of five transformers, the erection of 32 new utility poles, the laying of 26 kilometers of power lines, and the installation of 360 water pump electricity meters.

To ensure reliable power for drought-resistant irrigation in the core pomelo-growing areas along both sides of the Longxi River, State Grid Chongqing Changshou Power Supply Company launched a special survey and assessment initiative in 2025, accurately collecting fruit farmers' electricity needs for irrigation and continuously optimizing agricultural irrigation electricity connection services. To date, the company has installed a total of 10 transformers, erected 730 utility poles, and laid 43.7 kilometers of power lines in the main pomelo-producing areas, benefiting 2,731 fruit farmers and covering over 10,000 mu (approximately 667 hectares) of pomelo orchards.
