2026 Ordos Warm City Naadam Kicks Off in Etuokeqian Banner

Recently, the 2026 Ordos Warm City Naadam, themed "Joyful Naadam · Dynamic Village Volleyball Season," kicked off in Etuokeqian Banner. People of all ethnic groups gathered together to enjoy this grand grassland gala.

At 8 p.m., the opening ceremony venue was filled with excitement. Following the warm-up performances, the national flag formation marched in first to the uplifting melody of "Ode to the Motherland." It was followed by formations of equestrian riders, Bökh wrestlers, archers, sword flag bearers, and referees. Afterwards, delegations from the nine banners and districts of Ordos City made their appearance. After all attendees sang the national anthem together, Li Yun, Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Ordos Municipal Committee, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Ordos Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, announced the opening of the event. Yang Changqing, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Etuokeqian Banner Committee and Acting Banner Chief of the Banner People's Government, delivered a welcome speech, officially launching the series of Naadam activities.

Later, a diverse lineup of performances, including group dances, songs, instrumental performances, and recitations, took the stage one after another. The entire performance was divided into three chapters, blending rich cultural heritage with contemporary creativity. During the event, Chen Zhonghe, former head coach of the Chinese Women's National Volleyball Team, along with former Olympic champions Zhang Na and Zhang Ping from the team, attended the event in person. They experienced the vibrant charm of grassland village volleyball up close and cheered on the volleyball players on the grassland.

As night fell, a spectacular drone light show unfolded above the vast grasslands. Brilliant fireworks lit up the night sky, pushing the festive atmosphere of the opening ceremony to its climax.

It is learned that the event lasts four days and features four functional zones: competitive activities, mass cultural activities, agricultural specialty product exhibitions and sales, and a goods exchange fair. More than 10 major events have been organized, including the 2026 National Amateur Volleyball League, the traditional Mongolian "Three Manly Sports," Mongolian chess, and the Warm City Naadam Concert. These activities allow people of all ethnic groups to truly experience the simple and authentic grassland culture, while gathering strong spiritual momentum for building a modern Etuokeqian Banner featuring harmony and shared prosperity.
