State Grid Hubei Information & Telecommunication Company Strengthens Digital Defenses to Meet Peak Summer Demand

Since the start of summer, Hubei Province has experienced persistent and widespread high temperatures, with the provincial power grid load repeatedly setting new records. State Grid Hubei Information & Telecommunication Company responded swiftly and coordinated operations in key areas, including dispatch monitoring, communications support, system operations and maintenance (O&M), and cybersecurity. Using digital technologies, the company built a digital line of defense supporting reliable power supplies across Hubei.

Following its annual list of key equipment requiring enhanced O&M support, the company conducted comprehensive inspections of 52 main-grid transmission lines, 11 substations, and fiber-optic cables and communication sites along key 500-kV and 220-kV transmission lines. It also developed emergency rerouting plans for critical services to ensure that risks were identified and addressed on an ongoing basis.

In response to successive typhoons, the company established a continuous 48-hour emergency response mechanism and conducted multiple rounds of joint emergency communications drills with local power supply companies. It optimized procedures for key operations such as fault location and switching to alternative communication channels, strengthening its emergency communications response capabilities under extreme weather conditions.

Focusing on key functions such as outage data transmission, emergency repair work order processing, and low-voltage monitoring, the company provided end-to-end operational support for the Power Supply Service Command System. These efforts ensured the system's efficient operation and helped meet essential electricity needs during peak summer demand.

During the peak summer period, the company's cybersecurity monitoring center maintained a 24/7 watch while continuously conducting vulnerability scans and optimizing security policies. These measures successfully blocked multiple cyber threats before they could reach business systems, providing a secure cyber environment for stable power grid operations.
