Jiangsu’s First Direct Green Power Connection Project Passes Expert Review

The overall plan for Jiangsu Province's first direct green power connection project – the Wuxi Jiangyin Envision Power Microgrid Direct Green Power Connection Project – has recently passed expert review.

In response to international green trade regulations such as the EU's New Batteries Regulation and the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), State Grid Wuxi Power Supply Company formed a dedicated team in March this year to provide enterprises with full-process consulting services covering policy, economic feasibility, and construction procedures.

The project is jointly invested in and constructed by Wuxi Municipal Public New Energy and Envision Energy, with Envision Power Technology (Jiangsu) serving as the load-side principal. The company is a direct supplier of power batteries to leading global automakers, including BMW, with a high proportion of its products exported.

According to the plan, the project will build a new 7-kilometer 110 kV dedicated green power transmission line, directly connecting a local fishery-solar complementary photovoltaic power station to the factory to achieve "point-to-point" direct green power supply. It will also add a 12.5 MW/25 MWh energy storage system. Construction is scheduled to begin in December 2026, with the project expected to enter operation in October 2027.

Upon completion, the project is expected to add 100 million kWh of green power supply annually, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 50,000 tons, and increase the proportion of green power consumption at the plant site to more than 34%. This model makes green power consumption fully traceable, verifiable, and certifiable throughout the entire process, providing a new pathway for the green transformation of energy-intensive export-oriented enterprises. It also serves as a pioneering benchmark for renewable energy consumption in Jiangsu.
