The 3rd Kaili Sour Soup Industry Development Conference Held in Qiandongnan, Guizhou

On September 6, the 3rd Kaili Sour Soup Industry Development Conference kicked off at the Kaili Miao and Dong Ethnic Customs Park in Kaili, Qiandongnan, Guizhou Province. This year's conference aims to further unlock the dual value of Kaili sour soup as a national intangible cultural heritage and a national geographical indication product, facilitate connections between producers and buyers, promote the integration of specialty cuisine and cultural tourism, and drive quality upgrades across the entire sour soup industry chain.

At the opening ceremony, industry experts released the latest research findings on Kaili sour soup, and the Kaili Sour Soup Industry Development White Paper was officially published. During the conference, a series of events were held, including the "Kaili Sour Soup" brand promotion event, the "Kaili Sour Soup" Consumer Carnival, and a sourcing and sales matchmaking event for sour soup food products. A "Kaili Sour Soup Night" was also held, featuring a combination of documentary screenings, cultural performances, and a "Village T-stage" show, showcasing the sour soup industry's thousand-year cultural heritage and achievements across the industry.

In recent years, the Kaili sour soup industry has seen robust growth. Qiandongnan currently has 61 sour soup food-processing enterprises, with an annual production capacity approaching 320,000 tons. In 2025, the total output value of the sour soup industry in Qiandongnan exceeded 8 billion yuan. In the first half of 2026, the comprehensive output value of the sour soup industry chain in Qiandongnan reached 5.387 billion yuan, up 41.84% year-on-year. The number of businesses engaged in the sour soup industry surpassed 1,600, with more than 2,000 offline stores across nearly 70 cities nationwide.

As the core area of the sour soup industry, Kaili accounted for 43.26% of the prefecture's sour soup industry chain output value from January to July 2026. The city's sour soup raw material planting area has reached 56,000 mu (approximately 3,733 hectares), covering 16 towns and subdistricts and 163 administrative villages. Kaili has charted a path to rural revitalization by building an industry around "sour" flavors and boosting livelihoods through a complete industrial chain.
