Recently, Ningbo Fangyu Beidi Technology Co., Ltd. obtained a special document—a product “Carbon Passport” verified by TÜV Rheinland, an internationally accredited certification body. As carbon emissions have increasingly become a key benchmark for global trade, 26,000 foreign‑trade‑oriented enterprises in Ningbo generally face challenges such as complex carbon‑compliance rules, high carbon accounting costs and insufficient professional expertise. In early 2026, State Grid Ningbo Power Supply Company developed and piloted “Carbon Passport Application Platform for Industrially Export‑Oriented Cities”. Its first real‑world application was completed on September 15, enabling Ningbo Fangyu Beidi Technology Co., Ltd. to receive this Carbon Passport. By adopting digital approaches, the platform helps enterprises turn “carbon pressure” into “carbon competitiveness”.
The Carbon Passport is more than a simple form‑filling tool. It integrates carbon databases, model libraries and knowledge bases to build a closed‑loop service covering the full chain of carbon accounting, carbon certification, carbon evaluation, carbon emission reduction and carbon application. Translating obscure overseas regulations into Chinese‑language guided operations, the platform performs automatic carbon accounting once enterprises input data on production, energy consumption and raw materials, and generates CBAM compliance reports with one click. Compared with the traditional manual process, form‑filling efficiency has increased by 85 percent. Work that used to take one to two months can now be finished within days. Accounting reports are compatible with verification by internationally authoritative bodies, substantially cutting time and financial costs for small and medium‑sized enterprises in carbon compliance.
Beyond compliance declarations, the platform conducts carbon‑emission assessments for enterprises, delivers targeted energy‑saving renovation solutions and connects them with technical service providers. It also expands green‑finance matchmaking services, converting enterprises’ carbon‑reduction performance into advantages for green credit. This drives enterprises to shift from passive compliance with declaration requirements to active management of carbon assets, making carbon data a vital production factor for participating in international trade.
So far, product Carbon Passports have been issued to five enterprises within the province, and the accounting results of the pilot enterprises have successfully passed verification by international agencies. Digital tools have transformed carbon compliance from a high‑cost barrier into an inclusive service, encouraging enterprises to proactively optimize production processes and adopt green power alternatives.
Going forward, State Grid Ningbo Power Supply Company will continue to upgrade the Carbon Passport platform. Upholding the principle of “proactive compliance”, it will shift services from post‑incident remediation to pre‑emptive planning. It aims to help more foreign‑trade enterprises consolidate their green competitive edge and produce replicable and scalable examples of Ningbo’s practices.(By Meng Xuhui)
