The 22nd Conference on Overseas Chinese Pioneering and Developing in China Opens in Wuhan

On the morning of November 16, the 2022 Conference on Overseas Chinese Pioneering and Developing in China (referred to as "Huachuang Conference") opened in Wuhan, China, with about 500 overseas representatives from 49 countries and regions participating.

This year's Huachuang Conference comprises Wuhan Forum as well as 21 special sub-events themed on international talent exchange, technological innovation cooperation, global marketing of Hubei's products, etc. Centered on attracting talent, introducing advanced technologies, attracting investment and strengthening matchmaking of projects, it focuses on inviting high-quality overseas Chinese professionals, high-level overseas Chinese businessmen, representatives of prominent foreign business associations, and foreign high-tech companies to invest.

Among the 21 special sub-events of this year's Huachuang Conference, there are the Science and Technology Forum of the Alliance of Overseas Alumni Associations of the Universities in Hubei, the Special Sub-event for the Alliance of Hubei Associations Overseas, an on-site exhibition themed on "Stories of Intangible Cultural Heritage Along the Yangtze River", and other sub-events featuring countries including Hungary and Japan. These will promote exchanges and cooperation between overseas Chinese communities and Hubei's cities and prefectures, such as Wuhan, Xiangyang, Yichang and Enshi.

This year's Huachuang Conference has received a total of 194 signed projects, with a total amount of about CNY 161.08 billion. The number of the projects and the contracted amount have increased significantly compared with that of the previous sessions.

According to statistics, over 2,600 projects have been signed and introduced in the previous sessions of Huachuang Conference, with a contracted amount of more than CNY 560 billion; more than 20,000 overseas Chinese professionals and businessmen from 101 countries and regions have been invited to attend the Conference. Since 2020, a total of 85.06 million guests have participated in "Huachuang Conference Online". Huachuang Conference has become one of the major events for China's system of overseas Chinese affairs in attracting talent, introducing advanced technologies, attracting investment and strengthening cooperation between China and other countries and regions around the world.
