Exploring Beijing’s Landscapes with Goran Durdevic

On February 27, the Charming Beijing Overseas Communication Achievements Exhibition and the 2023 Launch Ceremony of Charming Beijing TV Series took place at the No. 10 exhibition hall of Shougang Park. The event was sponsored by the Information Office of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality and organized by CRI Online of China Media Group. Goran Durdevic, a lecturer at Beiwai College of Beijing Foreign Studies University and an archaeologist and historian from Croatia, gave an excellent comment on the episode Mountains, Waters, and People in Beijing of Charming Beijing TV series on-site.

“We want to show three principal aspects of the city. The first one is people, especially those who live in hutongs, the areas with the style of Beijing where people enjoy a close neighborhood. Secondly, Beijing has a wide range of mountainous areas where cultural heritage sites such as the Summer Palace are situated and venues of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics are built. The third aspect is the waters, including natural rivers and streams as well as the Grand Canal. The Grand Canal is an essential part of Chinese history and reflects the technological achievements of the Chinese people from ancient times to the present day." said Goran Durdevic.
