"The size of the kiwifruits is almost set now. Once they accumulate enough sugar, they will be ready for market sale," said Sun Jianzheng with joy recently at a kiwifruit base in Dinghe Town, Xixia County, Nanyang City, Henan Province.
Xixia County currently has 145,000 mu (23,887 acres) of artificial kiwifruit bases and 80 specialized kiwifruit planting villages. The total fruit-bearing area of kiwifruit orchards in the county reaches 85,000 mu (14,003 acres), with a production volume of 80,000 tons. Both the scale of the base and the output rank among the top at the county level in China. Eighty thousand individuals are directly engaged in the kiwifruit industry, with farmers in key production areas deriving 70% of their income from this sector.

To ensure that the maturation, refrigeration, packaging and processing of kiwifruits are supported by high-quality electricity, the State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company has optimized the electrical facilities at all kiwifruit planting bases within its jurisdiction. The Company delves into these planting bases to inspect and maintain power lines, organizes power supply service personnel to patrol the kiwifruit orchards, proactively inquires about electricity needs, and ensures that fruit farmers have worry-free access to electricity.
"A reliable and high-quality power supply helps us achieve precise fertilization and pest control. The kiwifruits picked and placed in a fresh-keeping storage do not deteriorate, and off-peak sales can fetch a good price," said Sun Jianzheng.
Moving forward, the State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company will continue to provide high-quality services for the kiwifruit industry, meet the electricity needs of farmers, and support the high-quality economic development of Xixia County.
