Quzhou, Zhejiang: New “Hardcore” Measures to Ensure Peak Summer Power Supply

As the peak summer power consumption period approaches, electricity demand continues to rise, and power supply assurance work has entered a critical phase. To meet the growing demand and improve power reliability, various “zero-reduction” and reinforcement measures are being fully implemented. On June 11, the main transformer upgrade project at Bridge Substation, carried out by State Grid Quzhou Power Supply Company, was successfully completed. This upgrade effectively resolves long-standing issues such as photovoltaic (PV) backflow and high nighttime residential electricity loads, laying a solid foundation for regional economic growth and ensuring reliable cooling for residents this summer.

Following the completion of the main transformer replacement and capacity expansion, the power supply capacity of Bridge Substation increased by 78.5%. This significantly eases pressure on the surrounding power grid during peak summer demand, ensuring more stable power for local PV generation and household use. Meanwhile, the company continues to optimize its services, actively addressing customer electricity needs and providing high-quality, efficient support for local economic and social development.

During the construction, State Grid Quzhou Power Supply Company employees overcame challenges such as tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and complex site conditions. The team planned meticulously and arranged tasks scientifically, while strictly implementing safety protocols to ensure the project's smooth progress. “We conducted three rounds of hoisting simulation drills in advance to ensure the two main transformers were positioned with minimal error,” said Liao Pinyang, on-site project manager. To support the implementation of the three-year action plan for work safety improvement, the company formed a dedicated project team to supervise construction progress, safety, and quality, adhering strictly to standard procedures and paying close attention to every detail to meet high-quality standards.

Looking ahead, State Grid Quzhou Power Supply Company will continue to strengthen the operation and maintenance of power grid equipment, monitor weather conditions and electricity loads in real time, manage grid dispatch scientifically, and proactively identify and eliminate potential hazards. These efforts will ensure the safe and stable operation of the power grid during the summer peak and provide strong support for the region’s high-quality economic and social development.
