From December 20 to 21, the celebration of the Dong New Year—recognized as a national-level intangible cultural heritage—unfolded in Liping County, Qiandongnan Prefecture, Guizhou Province. People of various ethnic groups from Guizhou, Hunan, Guangxi, Guangdong, and other regions gathered to celebrate this festive occasion of reunion and unity. The event masterfully blended cultural heritage preservation with innovative cultural tourism.
The event aimed to strengthen the safeguarding and transmission of cultural heritage and to promote fine traditional Chinese culture. Held at two main venues—Zhaoxing Dong Village and Liping County Town—the festival featured over ten distinctive activities, including ethnic unity parades, dance competitions, and cultural exchange events, offering visitors an immersive experience of the unique charm of Dong culture.
