State Grid Huai'an Power Supply Company Uses “Drone + Robot” Method to Remove Hazards from Live Lines

Recently, in Dailou Sub-district, Jinhu County, Huai'an City, State Grid Huai'an Power Supply Company independently carried out an equipotential live-line operation and successfully removed a foreign object wrapped around the conductors in the span between Towers No. 32 and No. 33 of the 220 kV Daishuang Line using the “drone + elevating robot” method, ensuring the safe operation of the power transmission line.

Work-at-height operation site

Facing the dual risks of a high-voltage electric field and work at height, the company’s operation personnel systematically carried out multidimensional surveying, operational plan validation, risk assessment, and simulation drills before the operation, developing a scientific and rigorous operation guidance system.

Drone operation site

During the operation, a drone first took off and accurately delivered an insulated pulling rope to the live conductor, establishing a safe access route for subsequent operations. Equipotential live-line operation personnel, wearing full sets of shielding suits, then entered the strong electric field precisely with the help of advanced electric lifting devices. Under close monitoring and coordinated cooperation, they removed the foreign object within 10 minutes without any power outage or customer disruption. (Text/Photos by Li Yu and Liang Debin)
