Recently, State Grid Wuxi Power Supply Company carried out specialized power protection inspections at 19 exam sites across the city, with personnel remaining on standby throughout the exam period to ensure a reliable power supply.
Technicians performed infrared temperature measurements on transformers and other power equipment at the exam sites to confirm normal operation. Given that air conditioners were running at full capacity during the exam, resulting in a power load increase of more than 30% above normal levels, the power department increased the frequency of equipment inspections. Uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) at the exam venues underwent multiple simulation tests and can automatically switch to backup power within 2 milliseconds in an emergency, meeting the “zero flicker” requirement for surveillance and audio playback equipment.
Power supply personnel conducted drone inspections, partial discharge detection, and infrared temperature measurements on 31 substations and 44 distribution lines, eliminating a total of 11 defects. They also completed 38 safety inspections jointly with school authorities. Load tests, UPS charge-discharge tests, and emergency drills were completed at all exam sites.
The power protection efforts were extended to more than 150 hotels where examinees were staying. Hazard inspections were completed, and an emergency communication mechanism was established. During the exam period, State Grid Wuxi Power Supply Company deployed 17 emergency power supply vehicles and more than 400 personnel for continuous patrols, with dedicated staff stationed at each exam site. Emergency repair teams remained on 24-hour standby, ensuring a reliable and uninterrupted power supply for the college entrance exam.
