Recently, International Experience Ambassadors participating in the “Silk Road IP, Opportunities in China” International Online Communication Campaign visited the Baishuiquan Optoelectronics Industrial Park in Jinta County, Jiuquan, exploring the front line of new energy development in the Gobi Desert and witnessing firsthand the green transformation from desert to oasis.

Jinta County continues to optimize its new energy development strategy and vigorously promotes clean energy development across desert, Gobi and other arid areas. The Jinta Zhongguang Solar “100 MW Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) + 600 MW Photovoltaic (PV)” Project is a benchmark “CSP+” project among the second batch of China’s large-scale Desert-Gobi-Wasteland renewable energy bases, pioneering a round-the-clock complementary power generation model.
State Grid Jiuquan Power Supply Company aligns with the region’s positioning as a “central hub, main corridor and key base,” actively promoting coordinated development of power generation, grid, load and energy storage to enhance grid capacity. The company provides support throughout the project lifecycle, offering comprehensive one-stop services. Meanwhile, it continues to advance digital transformation by applying the “E-Grid Connection” platform to streamline approval procedures and monitor project progress in real time. The company has also issued grid-connection service guidelines, established fast-track channels and arranged professional inspections in advance, providing strong support for the development of the new energy industry.

During their visit to the project’s central control room, Station Manager Zhao Bin introduced the project’s operational mechanisms to the International Experience Ambassadors. At the molten-salt thermal storage area, he answered their questions on site. When an International Experience Ambassador from Kazakhstan asked about the application of artificial intelligence, Zhao explained that AI models are already being used for data anomaly detection, power trading assistance and safety helmet recognition. Staff members can also monitor real-time data from the entire station through a mobile app.

Through technological innovation, Jinta is unlocking the potential of the Gobi Desert and transforming barren land into a clean energy powerhouse. Supported by targeted services from State Grid, the project highlights the vitality of green transformation in the Hexi Corridor and showcases advances in green technology and innovation.
