In Xiazhuang Village, Wushan County, Chongqing, a cliffside "sky road" carved by villagers with their own hands has become known across the country. Now, this mountain route—symbolizing the indomitable spirit of Xiazhuang's people—is fully illuminated along its entire length.
In recent years, rural tourism in Xiazhuang Village has been thriving. However, problems such as dark mountain roads at night and outdated power lines with insufficient capacity have become bottlenecks to further development. State Grid Chongqing Wushan Power Supply Company implemented targeted measures, installing 215 solar-powered streetlights along the 14-kilometer main road and village alleys, bringing an end to the era of "traveling in the dark." Meanwhile, uninterruptible power supplies have been added to public activity venues in the village, effectively eliminating the risk of power outages during large-scale cultural and tourism events and group activities.

Software and hardware services have been upgraded in tandem, further improving residents' quality of life. Xiazhuang Village has put into operation a village-level "water, electricity, gas, and communications" one-stop convenience service station, enabling residents to handle various convenience services in one place. Regular in-home safety inspections are also carried out, bringing urban-level public services to residents in the remote mountainous area. In addition, through a points-based redemption mechanism at the village's "Power Love Supermarket," local residents are encouraged to actively participate in building a civilized rural ethos.
Stable and reliable power supply has become the "invisible engine" driving the thriving development of industries in Xiazhuang Village. Thanks to the improved power infrastructure, local rural tourism businesses now operate year-round, and the tie-dye workshop experience has continued to grow in popularity. At the same time, the "Huinongbang" online platform, together with offline sales events, has helped local specialty products—such as wheat noodles and selenium-rich yellow peaches—reach broader markets through e-commerce.

Standing beside the now brightly lit sky road, Mao Xianglin, Party branch secretary of Xiazhuang Village in Zhuxian Township, said with emotion: "In the past, we carved the mountain with hammers; today, our revitalization depends on electricity." From carving a road out of a cliff to empowering development with electricity, Xiazhuang Village's path forward grows ever wider and brighter.
