On October 13, the 37th International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power visited the Dongyufang Historical and Cultural District in Huzhou to conduct targeted electrical safety inspections and carry out disaster prevention and risk reduction outreach. Centered on the theme "Building Safe and Resilient Communities," the company worked to safeguard the stable operation of shops in the block by optimizing power supply services, stepping up hazard inspections and safety publicity.
Revitalized from the former site of Huzhou’s old town, Dongyufang retains Huzhou’s urban cultural heritage, featuring relics of ancient city walls, an old opera stage and antique-style lanes. Now home to specialty food outlets, cultural and creative stores, sky curtain nightscape installations and the Yufang Market, the district serves as a leisure hub for local residents and a popular cultural tourism landmark for out-of-town visitors. As commercial formats keep expanding, night lighting and market activities have become regular fixtures. Power consumption scenarios are growing increasingly diverse and power load is rising steadily. This sets higher requirements for electrical safety risk prevention and control as well as power supply reliability.
Tailoring its services to the commercial features of the bustling block, State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power has refined its "one street, one strategy" power service initiative to build a robust power safety "protective net." Its service team carried out sweeping special inspections of cable branch boxes, high- and low-voltage power distribution rooms, in-store electrical equipment, night lighting for commercial events, and temporary power facilities at the market. The team carefully screened safety risks including aging circuits, overloaded equipment and unauthorized wiring, set up hazard files, and guided users to rectify problems in a closed-loop manner. These efforts help forestall electrical hazards in autumn and winter and consolidate the foundation for power safety in the district.
While inspecting equipment, the service team delivered on-site publicity on disaster prevention, risk reduction and safe electricity use. Visiting shops along the streets, team members cited typical cases to explain the risks of unauthorized wiring and improper use of high-power appliances. They also shared practical knowledge on electrical fire prevention, emergency power cut handling, and electricity safety precautions amid severe weather. The activities help boost the capacity of business operators and residents to prevent risks, conduct self-rescue and mutual rescue, bringing safety concepts down to the "smallest units" of the block and integrating them into daily business operations.
Moreover, to further energize the old town and improve service response efficiency, the company dynamically tracks power load changes in the district. It has opened up a green channel for power service applications within the block, providing one-stop services for newly settled merchants and temporary market vendors. Meanwhile, a coordination mechanism has been established between power grid officers, property management of the block and community grid workers. This allows timely access to information on major commercial, cultural and tourism events, enabling customized power services for diverse needs and ensuring power requests can reach frontline staff and receive prompt responses.
Moving forward, State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power will take this as an opportunity to further strengthen its "Power Supply + Safety" service model. It will carry out regular electrical hazard inspections and disaster prevention outreach for cultural and tourism business districts, old residential communities and industrial enterprises. With reliable power supply, targeted convenient services and solid disaster prevention measures, the company will reinforce the power safety line for building "safe and resilient communities" and empower a secure power-consuming life.
