Luoyang Museum of Ancient Tombs Has Been Fully Upgraded
To facilitate the goal of “Museum capital of the East” and the process of digitalized museum, Luoyang Museum of Ancient Tombs (the former Museum of Ancient Murals of Henan Province) reopened on September 29 after its renovation and upgrade of facilities, becoming a new cultural tourism attraction in Luoyang.
Richer collections offer full display of tomb culture
Luoyang Museum of Ancient Tombs, located in the northern part of Luoyang, is China's only tomb-themed museum that exhibits genuine objects rather than replicas to reflect the development of ancient funeral system in China. After the upgrade, the building area of the museum has increased to more than 20,000 square meters.
Visitors could select a time slot and book their tickets via the official WeChat account of Ancient Arts Museum of Luoyang.
The transition of exhibition areas between tombs and murals
Imitating the traditional Han-style architectures with eaves and beige walls, the museum's ancient courtyard at garden level offers visitors an immersive experience. The garden-level courtyard is 7 meters deep and about 600 square meters. Besides, a 1,480-square-meter comprehensive hall has been built on the south side of the exhibition hall of "An Overall Introduction of Ancient Funeral System in China".
After a tour at the museum, visitors can continue to enter the exhibition area of Jingling Tomb from the garden-level courtyard to the ground level, which will also be open to visitors on September 29th.
A new pavilion on water as a sitting and resting area was built for visitors. The pavilions on land and water stand out against each other like a traditional Chinese landscape painting.
Intelligent platforms for an immersive visiting experience
After the renovation and upgrade, Luoyang Museum of Ancient Tombs has become more intelligent in terms of installation of fresh air system and digital guide service, among others.
There are 16 multimedia interactive platforms within the museum, providing visitors with a comprehensive, multi-angle and immersive way to experience Chinese tomb culture and murals.
In addition, visitors can take a portable self-service guide machine with them throughout the visit from the intelligent guide platform at the entrance of the museum. Luoyang Museum of Ancient Tombs has also introduced regular free tour guide service, and visitors who need it shall wait and gather in the Taixu Hall.
