Luoyang Listed Among Top Ten Cities for Popularity of Its Tourist Attractions

Trip.com, a Chinese online travel service provider, recently released the "2023 Spring Festival Travel Summary Report" in which Luoyang was selected as one of the top 10 cities during the 2023 Spring Festival holiday in terms of the popularity of tourist attractions with a high volume of ticket bookings. During the Spring Festival holiday of 2023, China's domestic and international travel orders reached peaks over a three-year period. The volume of bookings for major scenic areas in China increased by 3.2 times year-on-year. Among all the domestic cities listed, Luoyang, Xi'an, Suzhou, Yangzhou, Kaifeng and others, which have long histories and are rich in cultural tourism resources, welcomed a considerable number of visitors during the holiday and therefore ranked among the top 10 cities with extremely high volumes of ticket bookings. 

Sui-Tang Luoyang City National Archaeological Site Park held large-scale activities for immersive experiences, connecting Yingtianmen, Mingtang Hall, Tiantang Hall, and Jiuzhou Pond. At the Botanical Garden of Sui-Tang Luoyang City National Archaeological Site Park, a Chinese New Year-themed lantern festival was held with several folklore performances including Datiehua (a form of traditional Chinese fireworks made by casting molten irons in the air). Shangyang Palace Cultural Park held a Tang-style new year fair, offering an immersive cultural feast featuring elements of the Tang Dynasty...... During the Spring Festival holiday, major tourist attractions in Luoyang launched a variety of cultural tourism activities with strong festive atmosphere and rich cultural ambience, by integrating folklore, intangible cultural heritage items, entertainment, leisure, parent-child activities among others, based on the needs of the market and tourists, therefore bringing tourists unforgettable Spring Festival experiences.

During the Spring Festival holiday of 2023, Luoyang continuously launched cultural tourism activities benefiting residents. Among all the tourist attractions of Luoyang, 52 Category A tourist attractions of the city, including the Longmen Grottoes and Laojun Mountain offered 40,000 free tickets for tourists around China every day from January 1 to January 31, 2023, delivering "dividends" of the cultural tourism sector to more people and contributing to the popularity of the attractions. 

Luoyang received a total of 5,938,600 tourists during the Spring Festival holiday this year, with a total tourism revenue of CNY 3.228 billion, increasing by 66.03 percent and 88.47 percent respectively. The number of visitors to scenic areas in Luoyang continued to rise, with scenic areas such as Laojun Mountain, Luoyi Ancient City and the Longmen Grottoes listed as popular tourist destinations during the Spring Festival holiday according to a big data platform of a third party. Such positive results have drawn great attention from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China.
