Night tours of the Longmen Grottoes proved popular during China's National Day holiday, as crowds packed the scenic area after dusk in Luoyang, Henan. The UNESCO World Heritage Site is considered a treasure trove of Northern Wei Dynasty (386–534) and Tang Dynasty (618–907) Buddhist art, featuring over 100,000 statues and images in over 2,300 grottoes and niches. Standing at 17.4 meters high, the Vairocana Buddha, the name of which means "shining light," is the largest statue in the grottoes and drew much attention during tours over the break.
