|ChinaNews|2024-03-07 17:31:42

On March 3, it was learned from Luoyang City Cultural Relics and Archaeology Research Institute that the Suyang Site in Yiyang County, the National Archaeological Site of Ancient Luoyang City of Han Dynasty and Wei State, and the Site of Xiangshan Temple of Longmen were on the list.

The Suyang Site is located to the west of Suyang Village and south of Xia Village in Zhangwu Town, Yiyang County, with an area of about 630,000 square meters. Since 2021, taking the opportunities of the major project of "Archaeological China - Research on Evolution of Civilization of Central Plains", Luoyang City Cultural Relics and Archaeology Research Institute has proactively carried out archaeological investigation and excavation of the site for three consecutive years.

The National Archaeological Site of Ancient Luoyang City of Han Dynasty and Wei State once served as the capital of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Wei State during the Three Kingdoms period, two Jin dynasties and the Northern Wei Dynasty. In 2023, the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences excavated the east wall and the southeast corner of the palace, and the northwest corner of the warehouse cellar area of the site. In addition to confirming the location and architectural structure of the northwest corner of the warehouse area, new relics related to the wall of the Northern Palace of the Eastern Han Dynasty have been discovered, providing new information for confirming the scope, site selection and evolution of the shape of the Northern Palace of the Eastern Han Dynasty.

The Site of Xiangshan Temple of Longmen is one of the famous "Ten Temples of Longmen" around the Longmen Grottoes in the Tang and Song dynasties. It is a royal temple in the Tang Dynasty, located at the southern foot of the East Hill in the Longmen Grottoes, with an existing area of more than 40,000 square meters.
