Relived Splendors of Sui and Tang at Luoyang's Grand Hall
Recently, a captivating performance of historical reenactment took place at the Bright Hall in Luoyang's Sui-Tang Scenic Area. Fourteen Hanfu (traditional Chinese attire) enthusiasts brought to life the dancers and musicians portrayed by a famous Tang Dynasty mural, offering visitors a breathtaking glimpse into the cultural splendor of that era.
The show centered around the "Music and Dance" mural unearthed from the east wall of the tomb of Han Xiu, a Tang Dynasty poet and politician. Measuring 392 centimeters in width and 227 centimeters in height, the mural features 14 figures. The female characters showcase typical Tang figures, while the male characters resemble Central Asian figures. At the center, a man and a woman are seen dancing together, their expressions and movements captured with remarkable realism.
The mural also depicts musicians playing ancient instruments such as the konghou (an ancient Chinese harp), pipa (a four-stringed lute), panpipes, cymbals, and bili (a reed instrument), alongside dancers performing the Hu Xuan dance, a fast-paced dance that originated from Central Asia. The performers faithfully recreated these scenes, leaving the audience in awe and transporting them straight to the most vibrant days of the Tang Dynasty.
