During the Spring Festival holiday, Luoyang's Laocheng District embraced the theme of "Celebrating the Chinese New Year in Neighborhoods", deeply exploring the cultural connotations of the first Spring Festival after its successful inscription to the UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage List. A variety of festive activities were organized, including intangible cultural heritage displays, folk performances, and Hanfu experiences, etc., allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the authentic traditional Chinese New Year.
The festivities featured a dazzling array of traditional intangible cultural heritage skills such as fire-breathing, lion dance, and Dingfan (acrobatics with a high flag pole). NPCs (Non-Player Characters, one of the core elements of immersive tourism) such as the Five Gods of Wealth, the Old Man under the Moon, and the God of Literature gathered together to interact intimately with visitors and offer New Year blessings. The intangible cultural heritage market gathered authentic snacks, trendy cultural and creative products, and unique souvenirs, providing a one-stop experience of bustling market life. Traditional performances such as "Wenfeng Evening Drum," "Halfway Up the Mountain Listening to the Rain," and "Heart Painting: Red Bones," instantly transported visitors back to the prosperous Sui and Tang dynasties.
